tcpEStatsTuneLimSsthresh

Module: TCP-ESTATS-MIB

OID (symbolic): TCP-ESTATS-MIB::tcpEStatsTuneLimSsthresh

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.156.1.1.7.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: A control to limit the maximum queue space (in octets) that this TCP connection is likely to occupy during slowstart.

It can be implemented with the algorithm described in RFC 3742 by setting the max_ssthresh parameter to twice tcpEStatsTuneLimSsthresh.

This algorithm can be used to overcome some TCP performance problems over network paths that do not have sufficient buffering to withstand the bursts normally present during slowstart.

What is tcpEStatsTuneLimSsthresh?

Admin-set cap on how much queue space, in bytes, this connection is expected to occupy during slow start, implementable per RFC 3742 by doubling this value for the max_ssthresh parameter; used to soften slow-start bursts on paths with limited buffering.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.156.1.1.7.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> TCP-ESTATS-MIB::tcpEStatsTuneLimSsthresh

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.156.1.1.7.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> TCP-ESTATS-MIB::tcpEStatsTuneLimSsthresh.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.156.1.1.7.1.2.1 i <value>
