Description: SWITCHVOX-MIB module
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SWITCHVOX-MIB?
SWITCHVOX-MIB is Digium's private MIB for its Switchvox family of Voice-over-IP phone systems aimed at small and medium businesses, combining PBX/telephony and general appliance management data. It exposes software version information, VoIP call-capacity limits and usage, phone configuration feature-pack licensing/usage counts, extension counts, a table of configured VoIP providers, memory usage information, and a general hardware-status subtree. Its monitoring value spans both software and hardware health for the PBX appliance -- svoxSoftwareVersion confirms the running firmware/software build, svoxMaxConcurrentCalls versus actual usage indicates call-capacity headroom, svoxMemoryInfo tracks memory consumption, and switchvoxHardwareStatus covers the appliance's physical health. It appears to be a self-contained vendor MIB without an evident dependency on standard telephony or host-resource MIBs. It is deployed on Digium Switchvox VoIP PBX appliances in SMB office telephony deployments. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the SWITCHVOX-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SWITCHVOX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Digium Switchvox VoIP PBX appliance
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polling svoxMaxConcurrentCalls against actual concurrent call usage, alongside svoxUsedExtensions versus svoxMaxExtensions, would detect a Switchvox system approaching its licensed capacity before calls start getting rejected. svoxVoipProvTable/svoxVoipProvEntry lists each configured VoIP trunk provider, letting an operator confirm a given SIP trunk is provisioned and compare against svoxAvailableVoipProviders capacity. switchvoxHardwareStatus and svoxMemoryInfo would be checked together to catch a memory leak or failing hardware component before it affects call quality, and svoxSoftwareVersion confirms the box is running the expected patched firmware release.
What Can Be Monitored
- software/firmware version
- concurrent call usage vs. limit
- extension count vs. licensed maximum
- feature pack license usage
- VoIP provider/trunk configuration
- memory usage
- hardware status
