What Is SUPERMICRO-SMI?

SUPERMICRO-SMI is Super Micro Computer's enterprise Structure of Management Information MIB, establishing the top-level OID tree under which all Super Micro SNMP-manageable objects are registered. Network engineers who go looking for the SUPERMICRO-SMI SNMP registration file typically need it as a compile-time prerequisite rather than a source of live data. As an SMI/registration module it defines no runtime data objects itself - it is the organizational root beneath which Super Micro's server and motherboard management MIBs (covering things like temperature, fan speed, power supply, and CPU status on Supermicro hardware) attach their definitions. It has no direct monitoring content of its own, but it is a mandatory dependency for any Supermicro hardware-monitoring MIB compiled against this enterprise branch. It relies on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise numbering conventions. It is typically loaded as a prerequisite whenever a management station compiles Supermicro's IPMI/BMC-related SNMP MIBs for server hardware monitoring.

Administrators would monitor those companion MIBs, not this one, for actual server health data.
