Category: Switch Management - D-Link
Description: Manages D-Link subnet-based VLAN assignments mapping IP subnets to specific VLAN identifiers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SUBNETVLAN-MIB?
SUBNETVLAN-MIB is a D-Link proprietary module implementing subnet-based (policy) VLAN assignment, mapping IP subnets to specific VLAN IDs on the switch. It exposes configuration data describing which IP subnet ranges are bound to which VLAN, i.e., VLAN assignment policy rather than physical sensors. Its monitoring value is chiefly software/configuration status - verifying that subnet-to-VLAN mappings are provisioned as intended, since an incorrect mapping would misclassify traffic into the wrong VLAN and cause connectivity or segmentation problems. It builds on the standard IEEE 802.1Q VLAN model (and the corresponding Q-BRIDGE-MIB) by adding subnet-based policy on top of standard port/tag-based VLAN membership. It is deployed on D-Link managed switches that use subnet-based VLAN policies for traffic segmentation, for example separating departments or device types by IP range. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the SUBNETVLAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SUBNETVLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- D-Link managed switch
Monitoring Examples
No concrete object or table names were provided for this module, so specific identifiers can't be quoted, but its purpose points to a subnet-to-VLAN mapping table where each entry associates an IP subnet/mask with a target VLAN ID. An administrator would review such entries to confirm hosts on a given subnet are being placed into the expected VLAN, and a host unexpectedly appearing in the wrong VLAN would indicate a missing or incorrect subnet-VLAN policy entry. This kind of check is typically done after adding a new subnet or reorganizing VLAN policy on the switch.
What Can Be Monitored
- subnet-to-VLAN mapping entries
- VLAN policy configuration
- VLAN assignment per subnet

RFC description
Vendor-specific MIB (likely H3C/Huawei) for managing subnet-based VLAN configurations, extending standard VLAN bridge management for subnet-to-VLAN binding and association policies.
