Module: STE2-MIB
OID (symbolic): STE2-MIB::infoAddressMAC
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.21796.4.9.70.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: DisplayString
Access: read-only
Description: MAC address in text form. It is here to distinguish devices in trap messages.
What is infoAddressMAC?
This is the text-formatted MAC address of the STE2 monitoring device, such as "00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E". Since STE2 units send SNMP traps, this value lets the receiving management station tell multiple devices apart when several send similar alarm traps. For example, an admin seeing infoAddressMAC = "00:0C:C8:11:22:33" in a trap payload knows it came from that specific STE2 unit rather than another one on the same subnet.
