threshold

Module: SNMP540-ALARM-MIB

OID (symbolic): SNMP540-ALARM-MIB::threshold

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.498.8.4.10.5.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This function sets/reads the alarm threshold
 settings criteria. This threshold is used
 along with the alarm window to determine
 the number of instances in a given time frame
 for an alarm to occur before the alarm is
 considered active.

Alarm       Table Entry        Range     Default
-------     ----------------  ---------  --------
Jitter    snmp540JitterAlm     0 to 99%      10%
BPV's     snmp540BpvAlm        0 to 99Count  10
Frm Loss  snmp540FrameLossAlm  0 to 99Count  10
SNRatio   snmp540SignalToNoiseAlm  0 to 50    0
Rx Low    snmp540RxSignalLowAlm  -50 to 6db -30dB

What is threshold?

This object sets or reads the alarm threshold criteria, used together with the alarm window to determine how many instances within a timeframe must occur before the alarm becomes active; documented example ranges include 0-99% for Jitter, counts for BPV and Frame Loss, and -50 to 6dB for Rx Level Low. Admins tune it per alarm type to match the sensitivity appropriate for that fault condition. Setting the threshold for the Rx Level Low alarm to -30dB, its documented default, means the alarm activates once received signal level drops below that point.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.498.8.4.10.5.1.6
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> SNMP540-ALARM-MIB::threshold

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.498.8.4.10.5.1.6.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> SNMP540-ALARM-MIB::threshold.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.498.8.4.10.5.1.6.1 i <value>
