snmpProxyType

Module: SNMP-PROXY-MIB

OID (symbolic): SNMP-PROXY-MIB::snmpProxyType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.6.3.14.1.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-create

Description: The type of message that may be forwarded using the translation parameters defined by this entry.

What is snmpProxyType?

This read-create value classifies which kind of SNMP message a proxy translation table row applies to, choosing among read(1), write(2), trap(3), or inform(4). Admins set it so the proxy forwarder knows whether a given translation entry should be used for GET/GETNEXT requests, SET requests, or forwarded notifications. For example, setting snmpProxyType to inform(4) configures that row to handle forwarding of incoming INFORM notifications rather than read or write requests.
