softwareWatchdogAction

Module: SNI-SERVER-CONTROL-MIB

OID (symbolic): SNI-SERVER-CONTROL-MIB::softwareWatchdogAction

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.231.2.10.2.2.5.3.11

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Behavior when the software watchdog timeout occurs (reboot, continue...). This value is only used if the watchdog is enabled. If set to continue and the watchdog has timeout, it will only be logged and no reset happens. The value unknown(1) cannot be set, a SET will deliver 'badValue'.

What is softwareWatchdogAction?

Read-write behavior when the software watchdog expires: continue(2) just logs it, reboot(3) restarts the system, nmi(4) triggers a non-maskable interrupt, power-cycle(5) fully cycles power (unknown(1) not settable). Lets an operator choose between a soft reboot and a hard power-cycle recovery strategy for a hung server.
