sFlowDataSource
Module: SFLOW-MIB
OID (symbolic): SFLOW-MIB::sFlowDataSource
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4300.1.1.4.1.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: OBJECT IDENTIFIER
Access: read-only
Description: Identifies the source of the data for the sFlow sampler.
The following data source types are currently defined:
- ifIndex.
DataSources of this traditional form are called 'port-based'.
Ideally the sampling entity will perform sampling on all flows
originating from or destined to the specified interface.
However, if the switch architecture only permits input or
output sampling then the sampling agent is permitted to only
sample input flows input or output flows. Each packet must
only be considered once for sampling, irrespective of the
number of ports it will be forwarded to.
Note: Port 0 is used to indicate that all ports on the device
are represented by a single data source.
- sFlowPacketSamplingRate applies to all ports on the
device capable of packet sampling.
- sFlowCounterSamplingInterval applies to all ports.
- smonVlanDataSource.
What is sFlowDataSource?
This read-only OBJECT IDENTIFIER names what this sFlow sampler is actually sampling from: a specific interface (ifIndex.<I>, with port 0 meaning all ports), a specific 802.1Q VLAN (smonVlanDataSource.<V>), or a physical entity like a backplane (entPhysicalEntry.<N>). Admins read it to know exactly what traffic scope a given sampler's statistics represent, since a packet crossing multiple data sources can generate multiple independent flow records. For example, sFlowDataSource pointing to ifIndex.24 means this sampler's packet and counter samples reflect only traffic on interface 24, not the whole switch.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4300.1.1.4.1.1 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> SFLOW-MIB::sFlowDataSource
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4300.1.1.4.1.1.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> SFLOW-MIB::sFlowDataSource.1
