sFlowAgentAddress

Module: SFLOW-MIB

OID (symbolic): SFLOW-MIB::sFlowAgentAddress

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4300.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: InetAddress

Access: read-only

Description: The IP address associated with this agent. In the case of a multi-homed agent, this should be the loopback address of the agent. The sFlowAgent address must provide SNMP connectivity to the agent. The address should be an invariant that does not change as interfaces are reconfigured, enabled, disabled, added or removed. A manager should be able to use the sFlowAgentAddress as a unique key that will identify this agent over extended periods of time so that a history can be maintained.

What is sFlowAgentAddress?

This read-only value is the IP address associated with the sFlow agent — for a multi-homed device, its loopback address — which must remain reachable via SNMP and stay invariant even as interfaces are reconfigured, added, or removed. Managers use it as a stable, unique key to identify this agent over time so they can maintain a consistent history of its flow and counter data. For example, a collector uses sFlowAgentAddress as the primary key when storing years of sFlow statistics, even after the device's individual interface IPs have changed.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4300.1.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> SFLOW-MIB::sFlowAgentAddress

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4300.1.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> SFLOW-MIB::sFlowAgentAddress.1
