slpAgentIsBroadcastOnly

Module: SERVICE-LOCATION-PROTOCOL-MIB

OID (symbolic): SERVICE-LOCATION-PROTOCOL-MIB::slpAgentIsBroadcastOnly

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.999.1.1.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-only

Description: Broadcast only network enabled for this SLP agent. If 'true', SLP agent MUST send only broadcast messages. If 'false', SLP agent MAY send multicast messages.

See: 'Broadcast Only' in section 14 of SLPv2 (RFC 2608).

See: 'net.slp.isBroadcastOnly' in SLP API (RFC 2614).

What is slpAgentIsBroadcastOnly?

This object indicates whether this SLP agent is restricted to sending only broadcast messages rather than multicast. An admin sets this to true on networks where multicast routing isn't supported, forcing the agent to fall back to broadcast for its SrvRqst and other SLP discovery traffic. For example, a value of true(1) means the agent broadcasts its service requests instead of relying on multicast, which would otherwise be dropped by routers that don't forward it.
