analogAlarmDeadband

Module: SCTE-HMS-PROPERTY-MIB

OID (symbolic): SCTE-HMS-PROPERTY-MIB::analogAlarmDeadband

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5591.1.1.1.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: Deadband for prevention of alarm oscillation. An alarm does not return to normal until the value either (a) passes the original threshold by this amount in the opposite direction of the alarm, or (b) alarm is disabled. This item should be an unsigned integer. This property is in the same engineering units as the parameter for which it belongs. This object should be kept in NV memory.

Some devices only require 16 bit integer or smaller and therefore only support 16 bit (or smaller) values. Values outside of the supported range will return a bad value error.

What is analogAlarmDeadband?

This read-write Integer32 defines the hysteresis margin used to prevent an active alarm from rapidly flapping back to normal. Once a threshold like analogAlarmHI or analogAlarmLO trips, the parameter's value must move back past the original threshold by this deadband amount, or the alarm must be disabled, before the alarm clears, and the setting should be kept in NV memory. For example, if analogAlarmHI is 80 and analogAlarmDeadband is 5, the alarm won't clear until the reading drops back below 75, avoiding chatter around the 80 boundary.
