s5EtrNewRedPortFailure
Module: S5-ETHERNET-TRAP-MIB
OID (symbolic): S5-ETHERNET-TRAP-MIB::s5EtrNewRedPortFailure
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.2.1.0.10
Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE
Description: A port that is in a redundant pair developed a fault. This trap is sent once when the condition is first detected. For all objects returned in the trap, the instance identifies the board and the port index. The following values are returned: s5EnRedPortOperStatus.........The status of the port. The value will distinguish between a local fault, a remote fault, and a missing board. s5EnRedPortCompanionBrdNum....The index of the slot containing the board of the other port in the redundant pair. s5EnRedPortCompanionPortNum...The index of the other port in the redundant pair. s5EnPortPartStatus, s5EnPortLinkStatus and s5EnPortJabberStatus..........These values may help determine the cause of the local fault.
Examples
Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' S5-ETHERNET-TRAP-MIB::s5EtrNewRedPortFailure snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.2.1.0.10
Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):
snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
Example snmptrapd log entry:
zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:61083->[192.168.30.10]:162]: DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (358178971) 41 days, 10:56:29.71 SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: S5-ETHERNET-TRAP-MIB::s5EtrNewRedPortFailure
Start monitoring Nortel Networks 5000-series stackable switches (Ethernet port/security/MAC-table trap notifications) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the S5-ETHERNET-TRAP-MIB::s5EtrNewRedPortFailure OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any Nortel Networks 5000-series stackable switches (Ethernet port/security/MAC-table trap notifications) from a single console.
