rohcRtpContextVerifyPeriod

Module: ROHC-RTP-MIB

OID (symbolic): ROHC-RTP-MIB::rohcRtpContextVerifyPeriod

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.114.1.1.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-only

Description: This object is only applicable to compressor contexts using the LLA profile. It specifies the minimum frequency with which a packet validating the context must be sent. This tells the compressor that a packet containing a CRC

field must be sent at least once every N packets, where N is the value of the object. A value of 0 indicates that periodical verifications are disabled.

The value of this object is only valid for LLA profiles, i.e., if the corresponding rohcProfile has a value of 0x0005. If the corresponding rohcProfile has a value other than 0x0005, then this object MUST NOT be instantiated.

What is rohcRtpContextVerifyPeriod?

This value, used only on LLA-profile compressor contexts, sets how often (every N packets) the compressor must send a CRC-bearing packet so the decompressor can verify its context is still synchronized. An admin tuning a lossy link would lower this value to force more frequent context verification and catch desynchronization sooner, while a value of 0 disables periodic verification entirely. For example, setting rohcRtpContextVerifyPeriod to 20 means the compressor sends a verifying CRC packet at least once every 20 packets instead of leaving it at the default 0 (verification disabled).
