rohcRtpContextState

Module: ROHC-RTP-MIB

OID (symbolic): ROHC-RTP-MIB::rohcRtpContextState

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.114.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: State of the context as defined in RFC 3095. States initAndRefresh(1), firstOrder(2), and secondOrder(3) are states of compressor contexts, states noContext(4), staticContext(5) and fullContext(6) are states of decompressor contexts.

What is rohcRtpContextState?

This value reports the current compression state of a ROHC (Robust Header Compression) context, distinguishing compressor states (initAndRefresh, firstOrder, secondOrder) from decompressor states (noContext, staticContext, fullContext). An admin monitoring a link carrying compressed RTP/voice traffic uses this to confirm the context has converged to full compression (fullContext) rather than staying stuck re-sending full headers (initAndRefresh), which would mean the bandwidth savings from ROHC aren't being realized. For example, rohcRtpContextState reading fullContext(6) on a decompressor context confirms headers are being fully compressed, while a state stuck at noContext(4) on a poor radio link would explain why RTP header overhead isn't being reduced.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.114.1.1.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ROHC-RTP-MIB::rohcRtpContextState

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.114.1.1.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ROHC-RTP-MIB::rohcRtpContextState.1
