rohcRtpContextSNACKs

Module: ROHC-RTP-MIB

OID (symbolic): ROHC-RTP-MIB::rohcRtpContextSNACKs

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.114.1.1.1.12

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: The number of all static negative feedbacks (ACK) sent or received in this context, respectively.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management

system, and at other times as indicated by the value of ifCounterDiscontinuityTime. For checking ifCounterDiscontinuityTime, the interface index is required. It can be determined by reading the rohcChannelTable of the ROHC-MIB.

What is rohcRtpContextSNACKs?

This counter counts static negative feedback (SNACK) messages exchanged in this ROHC context, which flag a mismatch in the static (rarely changing) header fields rather than the dynamic ones. An admin sees this as a more serious signal than a NACK, since a static-field mismatch typically forces a full context re-initialization rather than a quick dynamic-field update, so a rising SNACK count points to something more disruptive than ordinary packet loss. For example, if rohcRtpContextSNACKs increases right after a device's IP address changes, the static header fields being compressed no longer match, forcing renegotiation of the context.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.114.1.1.1.12
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ROHC-RTP-MIB::rohcRtpContextSNACKs

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.114.1.1.1.12.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ROHC-RTP-MIB::rohcRtpContextSNACKs.1
