rohcRtpContextNACKs

Module: ROHC-RTP-MIB

OID (symbolic): ROHC-RTP-MIB::rohcRtpContextNACKs

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.114.1.1.1.11

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: The number of all dynamic negative feedbacks (ACK) sent or received in this context, respectively.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of ifCounterDiscontinuityTime. For checking ifCounterDiscontinuityTime, the interface index is required. It can be determined by reading the rohcChannelTable of the ROHC-MIB.

What is rohcRtpContextNACKs?

This counter tracks the number of dynamic negative feedback (NACK) messages sent or received in this ROHC context, signaling that the decompressor detected a dynamic-field mismatch. An admin would watch rohcRtpContextNACKs for an upward trend as an early sign of context desynchronization on a lossy link, since each NACK triggers the compressor to resend more header information and reduces compression efficiency. For instance, a sudden spike in rohcRtpContextNACKs during a Wi-Fi handoff would point to packet loss disrupting the compressed RTP stream at that moment.
