rohcRtpContextCSPs

Module: ROHC-RTP-MIB

OID (symbolic): ROHC-RTP-MIB::rohcRtpContextCSPs

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.114.1.1.1.14

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: This object is only applicable to contexts using the LLA profile. It contains the number of all context synchronization packets (CSP) sent or received in this context, respectively.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management

system, and at other times as indicated by the value of ifCounterDiscontinuityTime. For checking ifCounterDiscontinuityTime, the interface index is required. It can be determined by reading the rohcChannelTable of the ROHC-MIB.

The value of this object is only valid for LLA profiles, i.e., if the corresponding rohcProfile has a value of 0x0005. If the corresponding rohcProfile has a value other than 0x0005, then this object MUST NOT be instantiated.

What is rohcRtpContextCSPs?

This counter, valid only for LLA-profile contexts, tracks the number of context synchronization packets (CSP) exchanged to (re)align compressor and decompressor state. An admin would treat a rising CSP count as a sign the link is forcing frequent context resynchronizations, which cuts into the bandwidth savings ROHC is meant to provide. For instance, seeing rohcRtpContextCSPs climb sharply after a satellite link outage would explain why the context needed to be resynchronized from scratch.

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ROHC-RTP-MIB::rohcRtpContextCSPs

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.114.1.1.1.14.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ROHC-RTP-MIB::rohcRtpContextCSPs.1
