serialTimeout
Module: RMON2-MIB
OID (symbolic): RMON2-MIB::serialTimeout
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.19.10.1.3
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Integer32
Access: read-create
Description:
This timeout value is used when the Management Station has initiated the conversation over the serial link. This variable represents the number of seconds of inactivity allowed before terminating the connection on this serial interface. Use the
serialDialoutTimeout in the case where the probe has initiated the connection for the purpose of sending a trap.
What is serialTimeout?
This read-write number (1 to 65535 seconds) sets how long the device waits for activity when a management station initiates a serial connection before hanging up. Engineers adjust this to prevent idle connections from consuming resources while allowing time for slow management operations. For example, setting to 300 closes the connection after 5 minutes of inactivity.
