What is serialMode?

This read-write value configures the type of serial connection expected: for example, direct terminal connection or modem dial-in. Engineers set this based on whether they connect directly via console cable or remotely through a modem. For example, setting to "modem(2)" enables automatic modem negotiation for remote access.
