serialDialoutTimeout

Module: RMON2-MIB

OID (symbolic): RMON2-MIB::serialDialoutTimeout

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.19.10.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-create

Description:

This timeout value is used when the probe initiates the serial connection with the intention of contacting a management station. This variable represents the number of seconds of inactivity allowed before terminating the connection on this serial interface.

What is serialDialoutTimeout?

This read-write number (1 to 65535 seconds) sets inactivity timeout for serial connections initiated by the probe itself, such as sending traps to a management station. Engineers tune this separately from incoming connection timeout to allow longer operations when the probe is the initiator. For example, setting to 600 allows 10 minutes for a trap transmission attempt before timeout.
