A textual description of the protocol encapsulation. A probe may choose to describe only a subset of the entire encapsulation (e.g. only the highest layer).
This object is intended for human consumption only.
This object may not be modified if the associated protocolDirStatus object is equal to active(1).
What is protocolDirDescr?
This text string provides a human-readable name for each protocol being monitored (up to 64 characters). Engineers use it to quickly identify which protocols the probe is tracking without decoding object IDs. Operators can edit this field to clarify what each protocol represents in their network.
