What is netDefaultGateway?

This stores the IP address of the default gateway (the router that forwards traffic to unknown networks), defaulting to 0.0.0.0 if not configured. A network engineer needs this to ensure traffic destined for remote networks is routed correctly from the monitoring device. For example, if the probe's network is 192.168.1.0, the default gateway might be 192.168.1.1 to reach external networks.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> RMON2-MIB::netDefaultGateway

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.19.12.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> RMON2-MIB::netDefaultGateway.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.19.12.1 a <value>
