Module: RMON-MIB

OID (symbolic): RMON-MIB::bufferControlFullAction

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.8.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-create

Description:

Controls the action of the buffer when it reaches the full status. When in the lockWhenFull(1) state and a packet is added to the buffer that fills the buffer, the bufferControlFullStatus will be set to full(2) and this buffer will stop capturing packets.

What is bufferControlFullAction?

This object controls what happens when a RMON probe's packet capture buffer becomes completely full. The common action is 'lockWhenFull', which stops the probe from capturing new packets once the buffer is full to preserve the captured data. An operator would configure this setting to decide whether to stop capturing (preserving what was captured) or continue overwriting old data when the buffer fills up.
