Description: The protocol status of the logical ring

What is logRingProtoStatus?

Reports the ring protocol's current condition as a code: normal(1) means everything is fine, controlChanDn(2) means the ring's control channel is down, setAlarm(5)/clrAlarm(6) flag alarm transitions, and lowerLayerDn(7) means the underlying transport layer has failed - an admin would poll this to catch ring protocol problems before they escalate to a full outage.
