Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: An identifier having special semantics when set.

When this object's value is zero, OSPF is disabled and cannot be configured. Setting this object to a nonzero value enables OSPF operation and permits further OSPF configuration to be performed.

When this object's value is nonzero, setting it to a value of zero disables OSPF operation and clears all existing OSPF configuration.

Once set to a nonzero value, this object cannot be set to a different nonzero value without first setting it to zero.

(This MIB object mimics the behavior of the OSPF 'process ID' parameter used through the command-line interface.)

What is rsOspfProcessId?

This special identifier both enables and identifies the OSPF process on the device - setting it from zero to any nonzero value turns OSPF on and unlocks further OSPF configuration, while setting it back to zero disables OSPF entirely and wipes all existing OSPF configuration; once nonzero, it can't be changed to a different nonzero value without first clearing it to zero. Administrators use this as the master on/off switch and process identifier for OSPF on the device, mirroring the same "process ID" concept used in the CLI. Setting this object from 0 to 1 would turn OSPF on and open up the rest of the OSPF configuration objects for use, while setting an already-active process ID back to 0 would tear down the entire OSPF configuration.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2773.2.14.1.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> REDSTONE-OSPF-MIB::rsOspfProcessId

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2773.2.14.1.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> REDSTONE-OSPF-MIB::rsOspfProcessId.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2773.2.14.1.1.1.1 i <value>
