rbnIfHCOutIPv6MulticastPkts
Module: RBN-IF-MIB
OID (symbolic): RBN-IF-MIB::rbnIfHCOutIPv6MulticastPkts
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2352.2.57.0.1.1.8
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Counter64
Access: read-only
Description: The total number of IPv6 packets that higher-level protocols requested be transmitted, and which were addressed to a multicast address at this sub-layer, including those that were discarded or not sent. For a MAC layer protocol, this includes both Group and Functional addresses.
Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of ifCounterDiscontinuityTime in ifXTable in IF-MIB.
What is rbnIfHCOutIPv6MulticastPkts?
This counts the IPv6 packets that higher-level protocols requested be transmitted out this interface and that were addressed to a multicast address, including those discarded or not sent, the IPv6 counterpart to the IPv4 outbound multicast counter. It lets an admin confirm whether IPv6 multicast traffic is actually being forwarded out a given interface, for example when validating an MLD-based multicast deployment. If this counter never increments on an interface expected to carry IPv6 multicast video, that points to a forwarding or subscription problem on that link.
