radiusAccClientExtMalformedResponses

Module: RADIUS-ACC-CLIENT-MIB

OID (symbolic): RADIUS-ACC-CLIENT-MIB::radiusAccClientExtMalformedResponses

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.67.2.2.1.1.4.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: The number of malformed RADIUS Accounting-Response packets received from this server. Malformed packets include packets with an invalid length. Bad authenticators and unknown types are not included as malformed accounting responses. This counter may experience a discontinuity when the RADIUS Accounting Client module within the managed entity is reinitialized, as indicated by the current value of radiusAccClientCounterDiscontinuity.

What is radiusAccClientExtMalformedResponses?

This counter tracks malformed RADIUS Accounting-Response packets received from this server, such as those with an invalid length, explicitly excluding bad-authenticator and unknown-type packets from this count; it may show a discontinuity if the accounting client module reinitializes. Admins watch this for signs of protocol-level corruption or a misbehaving/incompatible RADIUS server implementation. For example, a spike in radiusAccClientExtMalformedResponses right after a server software upgrade might point to a bug or misconfiguration on that RADIUS server.
