Type: INTEGER

Access: read-create

Description:

The type of constraint this entry defines. independent(1) - the VLAN, dot1qConstraintVlan, uses a filtering database independent from all other VLANs in the same set, defined by dot1qConstraintSet. shared(2) - the VLAN, dot1qConstraintVlan, shares the same filtering database as all other VLANs in the same set, defined by dot1qConstraintSet.

What is dot1qConstraintType?

This setting defines whether a VLAN uses its own MAC address learning table (independent) or shares one with other VLANs (shared). Network engineers configure this to control memory usage and learning behavior on switch ports. For example, independent VLANs learn MAC addresses separately, while shared VLANs reuse the same learned table.
