Module: PRVT-L2TUNNELING-MIB

OID (symbolic): PRVT-L2TUNNELING-MIB::prvtL2ProtocolMAC

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.738.1.7.3.1.3.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-create

Description: The protocol Multicast MAC address used for PDU distribution.

What is prvtL2ProtocolMAC?

This read-create OCTET STRING is the destination multicast MAC address used by a given L2 protocol's PDUs, such as the standard spanning-tree BPDU MAC. An admin uses this to identify which multicast MAC address the switch should match against to classify frames as belonging to this protocol. Setting this to 01-80-C2-00-00-00 on the xSTP protocol entry matches it to the standard IEEE bridge-group spanning-tree BPDU destination address.
