pppSecuritySecretsStatus

Module: PPP-SEC-MIB

OID (symbolic): PPP-SEC-MIB::pppSecuritySecretsStatus

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.23.2.3.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Setting this object to the value invalid(1) has the effect of invalidating the corresponding entry in the pppSecuritySecretsTable. It is an implementation-specific matter as to whether the agent removes an invalidated entry from the table. Accordingly, management stations must be prepared to receive tabular information from agents that corresponds to entries not currently in use. Proper interpretation of such entries requires examination of the relevant pppSecuritySecretsStatus object.

What is pppSecuritySecretsStatus?

This enumerated value indicates whether a row in the PPP security secrets table is valid or has been invalidated. Admins set it to invalid(1) to logically disable a stored credential pair, for example after a peer's password is retired, without necessarily deleting the row. A management station reading valid(2) confirms the corresponding ID/Secret pair is actively usable for PPP authentication.

Examples

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> PPP-SEC-MIB::pppSecuritySecretsStatus

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.23.2.3.1.7.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> PPP-SEC-MIB::pppSecuritySecretsStatus.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.23.2.3.1.7.1 i <value>
