pdnEntPhySensorExtNotificationEnable

Module: PDN-ENTITY-SENSOR-EXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): PDN-ENTITY-SENSOR-EXT-MIB::pdnEntPhySensorExtNotificationEnable

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.45.1.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Bits

Access: read-write

Description: Provides that ability to enable and disable notifications relative to objects in this table.

When this bit is set, pdnEntPhySensorExtThesholdExceededSet and pdnEntPhySensorExtThesholdExceededCleared notifications should be generated.

When this bit is reset, pdnEntPhySensorExtThesholdExceededSet, and pdnEntPhySensorExtThesholdExceededCleared notifications should be not be generated.

What is pdnEntPhySensorExtNotificationEnable?

This is a bit-flag setting that controls whether the device generates SNMP notifications when a physical sensor's reading crosses its configured threshold, covering both the "threshold exceeded" and "threshold cleared" trap conditions. Administrators enable this bit so their monitoring system gets proactively alerted the moment a sensor (like a temperature probe) goes out of bounds, rather than having to poll sensor values continuously. Turning this bit on for a chassis temperature sensor means the device will automatically fire a trap the instant that sensor's reading exceeds the configured upper or lower limit.
