mdmLocalCarrierDetect

Module: PANDATEL-FHFL-MODEM-MIB

OID (symbolic): PANDATEL-FHFL-MODEM-MIB::mdmLocalCarrierDetect

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.760.1.1.2.1.10.101.1.1.60

Type: INTEGER

Description: The data carrier detect mode at the interface: if set to 'fo-link-and-remote-handshake' the DCD signal (resp. I for X.21, etc.) follows link status and remote RTS (resp. C for X.21, etc.), if set to 'fo-link' the DCD signal follows link status only.

What is mdmLocalCarrierDetect?

This configures how the modem's local Data Carrier Detect signal behaves: following both the fiber link status and a remote handshake, or following link status alone. Admins set this to control what conditions the connected DTE equipment sees as carrier present, which affects how quickly it detects a link failure at the far end. An admin wanting the connected router to notice not just fiber loss but also remote equipment problems would set mdmLocalCarrierDetect to fo-link-and-remote-handshake(2) rather than fo-link(3) alone.
