Description: Provides aggregate throughput, session count, and system health summary for Procera Networks PacketLogic appliances.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PACKETLOGIC-OVERVIEW-MIB?
PACKETLOGIC-OVERVIEW-MIB is a Procera Networks vendor MIB providing a top-level, system-wide summary for PacketLogic2 DPI/traffic-management appliances. It exposes a small overview table with identity and build information -- device model, machine ID, configuration checksum, and firmware version -- rather than deep per-subsystem detail. It is used primarily for software/configuration status monitoring: confirming which firmware version is running, checking for configuration drift by comparing configMd5Sum against a known-good baseline, and identifying a specific appliance by machineId in a fleet. It complements more detailed sibling MIBs such as PACKETLOGIC-NIC-MIB (hardware) and PACKETLOGIC-SNOOPER-DHCP-MIB (subsystem stats) rather than depending on any IETF standard MIB. It is deployed alongside those companion MIBs on Procera/Sandvine PacketLogic appliances used for DPI-based traffic shaping and policy enforcement in ISP networks. Engineers can download the PACKETLOGIC-OVERVIEW-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PACKETLOGIC-OVERVIEW-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Procera Networks PacketLogic DPI appliance
- Sandvine PacketLogic traffic management appliance
Monitoring Examples
An admin polls overviewEntry (via overviewEntryIndex) to read firmwareVersion after a maintenance window, confirming the expected software build was applied across the fleet. Comparing configMd5Sum before and after a change-control window reveals whether the running configuration was actually altered. The model and machineId fields let a monitoring system unambiguously label alerts from a specific box in a multi-appliance deployment.
What Can Be Monitored
- firmware version
- configuration checksum/drift
- device model
- machine identifier
