inetCommunityName

Module: Olicom-MIB

OID (symbolic): Olicom-MIB::inetCommunityName

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.285.4.5.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DisplayString

Access: write-only

Description: The community name used by the management station to access the agent. An empty community name means that any request regardless of it's community name will be accepted.

What is inetCommunityName?

This is the SNMP community name a management station must present to access the agent under this table entry; leaving it empty makes the agent accept any community name for this row. Because this object is write-only, an admin can set it but can never read back a configured community string via SNMP, which is a basic security measure against leaking credentials.
