rptrBasSelfTest2

Module: Novell-Hub-Ethernet-MIB

OID (symbolic): Novell-Hub-Ethernet-MIB::rptrBasSelfTest2

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.23.2.2.1.1.1.12

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Setting this variable to selfTest(2) causes the repeater to perform a agent-specific, disrupt)ve self-test that has the following characteristics: (1) The nature of the tests is not specified. (2) The test resets the repeater but without affecting management information about the repeater. (3) The test does not inject packets onto any segment. (4) Packets received during the test may or may not be relayed.

After performing this test the agent will update the repeater health information. If a change in the repeater health has occurred, the agent will send a rptrHealth trap.

Setting this variable to noSelfTest(1) has no effect. The agent will always return the value noSelfTest(1) when this variable is read.

What is rptrBasSelfTest2?

This read-write INTEGER triggers the repeater's disruptive self-test: writing selfTest(2) resets the repeater (without losing management data) as part of a more thorough diagnostic that may affect packets received during the test; reading always returns noSelfTest(1). An admin schedules this test for a maintenance window rather than during production traffic, since it can interrupt frame relaying.

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> Novell-Hub-Ethernet-MIB::rptrBasSelfTest2

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.23.2.2.1.1.1.12.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> Novell-Hub-Ethernet-MIB::rptrBasSelfTest2.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.23.2.2.1.1.1.12.1 i <value>
