mscTdmaBcV42BisCompRatioEncoder

Module: Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-TdmaIwfMIB

OID (symbolic): Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-TdmaIwfMIB::mscTdmaBcV42BisCompRatioEncoder

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.36.2.1.136.9.10.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: FixedPoint2

Access: read-only

Description: This attribute indicates the number of uncompressed bytes divided by the number of compressed bytes. A value greater than one means that the data is being compressed. This is the compression ratio achieved by the V.42bis encoder running on the Passport. This attribute is relevant for both protocol modes transparent and compressed as the encoder switches between the two modes.

What is mscTdmaBcV42BisCompRatioEncoder?

Reports the V.42bis encoder's compression ratio for this call (uncompressed bytes divided by compressed bytes, as a fixed-point value 0-30000), measured at the IWF/Passport side; a value greater than one (i.e. above 100 in the fixed-point representation) means data is actually being compressed. Admins can use this as a real-time indicator of how effectively this specific call's traffic is compressing, useful for spotting calls carrying already-compressed or encrypted data that won't benefit from V.42bis.
