mscLpEngFrsOvMaxCalls

Module: Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FrameRelayEngMIB

OID (symbolic): Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FrameRelayEngMIB::mscLpEngFrsOvMaxCalls

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.36.2.1.12.23.3.2.10.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: This attribute specifies the maximum number of Frame Relay calls of any type (PVC, SPVC, or SVC) which can be simultaneously 'current' on this LP. Note that 'current' doesn't necessarily mean that the call is in data transfer. It minimally means that such a call can subsequently generate accounting records. When the value of currentCalls reaches the value of maxCalls for FR on this LP, subsequent call attempts are rejected by the FR services.

What is mscLpEngFrsOvMaxCalls?

This read-write Unsigned32, ranging 0 to 1000000 and defaulting to 1000000, lets an operator specify the maximum number of Frame Relay calls of any type -- PVC, SPVC, or SVC -- that can be simultaneously current on this LP, overriding the engineered default. Per the description, once currentCalls reaches this value, the Frame Relay service begins rejecting further call attempts, so setting it lower deliberately throttles call capacity. An admin who wants to reserve capacity on a shared LP might lower this from the default 1000000 to 500000 to cap Frame Relay call volume below the engineered maximum.
