ntpStratum

Module: NTP-MIB

OID (symbolic): NTP-MIB::ntpStratum

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4.50.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: Stratum of peer

What is ntpStratum?

This object reports the NTP stratum level of the peer identified in this table row, indicating how many hops that source is from a reference clock. Admins check it to gauge time-source quality: a low stratum number (closer to 1) means the peer is closer to an authoritative clock and therefore more trustworthy. A peer reporting ntpStratum of 16 is considered unsynchronized and should not be relied on as a time source.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4.50.1.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> NTP-MIB::ntpStratum

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4.50.1.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> NTP-MIB::ntpStratum.1
