ntpDispersionI

Module: NTP-MIB

OID (symbolic): NTP-MIB::ntpDispersionI

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4.50.1.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: Difference between peer and local clocks. (Integral portion)

What is ntpDispersionI?

This object reports the integer portion of this device's estimated dispersion, the maximum error bound, relative to the NTP peer in this row. Dispersion accounts for accumulated clock drift and measurement uncertainty, and NTP uses it alongside delay and offset to weigh how much to trust this peer's time. Admins seeing a growing ntpDispersionI value for a peer would treat that source as increasingly unreliable for precise synchronization.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4.50.1.1.9
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> NTP-MIB::ntpDispersionI

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4.50.1.1.9.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> NTP-MIB::ntpDispersionI.1
