ntpDelayF

Module: NTP-MIB

OID (symbolic): NTP-MIB::ntpDelayF

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4.50.1.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: Total delay between peers. (Fractional portion)

What is ntpDelayF?

This object reports the fractional portion of the total round-trip delay measured between this device and the NTP peer, complementing the integer portion in ntpDelayI. NTP's synchronization algorithm needs this fine-grained precision to accurately estimate and compensate for network transit delay when adjusting the local clock. Together, ntpDelayI and ntpDelayF give the full delay measurement an admin would use to assess a peer's suitability as a precise time source.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4.50.1.1.6
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> NTP-MIB::ntpDelayF

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4.50.1.1.6.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> NTP-MIB::ntpDelayF.1
