What is alarmEnable?

This read-write single-byte OCTET STRING is a bitmask enabling or disabling the four alarm severity levels (LOLO, LO, HI, HIHI, one bit each) for the analog parameter identified by analogParameterOID; the MIB's DESCRIPTION text is present but garbled by a character-encoding issue in the source file, so this reading is inferred from the object name, the sibling threshold objects (analogAlarmHIHI/HI/LO/LOLO), and typical HFC alarm-management conventions. An admin sets specific bits in this byte to enable only the alarm severities relevant to a given parameter, since not every measured value needs all four threshold alarms active. Setting bit 3 (HIHI enable) to 1 while leaving the other bits at 0 would illustratively activate only the highest-severity high alarm for that analog parameter.
