ntcHWRestart

Module: NOKIA-HWM-MIB

OID (symbolic): NOKIA-HWM-MIB::ntcHWRestart

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.94.1.16.7.1.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Provides the ability to reset or perform a hot restart the unit represented by this conceptual row. reset = the Unit is shutdown in an orderly manner and restarted again via hardware reset; hotRestart = only the software in a unit is restarted, a hardware reset is not initiated; detach = all electrical connections of the unit are forced to an inactive state to enable removal of the unit without electrical disturbance in the backplane.

What is ntcHWRestart?

This read-write integer lets an admin trigger a control action on a unit: reset for a full hardware reset, hotRestart for a software-only restart, or detach to force all electrical connections inactive for safe removal. An admin uses it to remotely recover a hung unit without physical access, choosing hotRestart for lighter-weight recovery or reset when a full hardware-level restart is needed. For example, before physically pulling a card from the chassis, an admin would set ntcHWRestart to detach(3) to safely de-energize its backplane connections first.
