ntcHWDesiredUnitType

Module: NOKIA-HWM-MIB

OID (symbolic): NOKIA-HWM-MIB::ntcHWDesiredUnitType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.94.1.16.7.1.1.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: AutonomousType

Access: read-write

Description: The unit type which is expected to be inserted or present in the current slot. An indication of the vendor-specific hardware type of the HWM entity. Note that this is different from the definition of MIB-II's sysObjectID. An agent should set this object to a enterprise-specific registration identifier value indicating the specific equipment type in detail. If no vendor-specific registration identifier exists for this entity, or the value is unknown by this agent, then the value { 0 0 } is returned.

What is ntcHWDesiredUnitType?

This read-write AutonomousType specifies which vendor-specific hardware type is expected to be present in a given slot, or the value {0 0} if unknown or unset. An admin sets this to pre-provision a slot for a specific card type before it's physically installed, so the hardware management software knows what to expect and can flag a mismatch if the wrong card is inserted. For example, an admin planning to install a specific line card in slot 3 would first set ntcHWDesiredUnitType for that slot's row to the card's registered enterprise-specific type identifier.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.94.1.16.7.1.1.2.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> NOKIA-HWM-MIB::ntcHWDesiredUnitType

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.94.1.16.7.1.1.2.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> NOKIA-HWM-MIB::ntcHWDesiredUnitType.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.94.1.16.7.1.1.2.1.2.1 s <value>
