ldPortControl

Module: NMS-LOOPBACK-DETECT-MIB

OID (symbolic): NMS-LOOPBACK-DETECT-MIB::ldPortControl

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11606.10.9.252.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Configuration of port's control function.

What is ldPortControl?

A read-write enumeration selecting the action taken on a port when a loopback is detected: warnTrap(1) just sends a notification, block(2) blocks the port's traffic, learning(3) keeps learning but takes some other action, or shutdown(4) disables the port entirely. This lets an admin tune how aggressively the switch responds to a detected physical loop, trading off automatic protection against the risk of unexpectedly taking a port out of service. An admin wanting visibility without disruption might set this to warnTrap(1), while one prioritizing network protection against broadcast storms would choose shutdown(4).

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11606.10.9.252.2.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> NMS-LOOPBACK-DETECT-MIB::ldPortControl

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11606.10.9.252.2.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> NMS-LOOPBACK-DETECT-MIB::ldPortControl.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11606.10.9.252.2.1.2.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> ldPortControl.1
