Description: Manages Global Load Balancing configuration and virtual server pool settings on Juniper NetScreen devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NETSCREEN-SET-GLB-MIB?
NETSCREEN-SET-GLB-MIB is a Juniper NetScreen (ScreenOS) proprietary MIB for configuring Global, Global-Pro, and NSM (NetScreen-Security Manager) management settings, including a Global Load Balancing (GLB) feature for distributing traffic across managed security devices. It exposes settings for enabling VPN-based global management, designating primary/secondary GLB servers, defining management server name/protocol/ports, and statistics counters for Ethernet and network attachment traffic seen by the management/global settings subsystem. Its monitoring value is mostly software/configuration status: confirming whether Global Management or Global-Pro mode is enabled, which management server the device is pointed at, and reviewing Ethernet/attachment statistics counters for the management interface. It is a proprietary Juniper NetScreen MIB, layered on ScreenOS-specific management conventions rather than IETF standards. It is deployed on Juniper NetScreen firewall/VPN security appliances managed centrally via NSM in enterprise security infrastructures. Engineers can download the NETSCREEN-SET-GLB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NETSCREEN-SET-GLB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Juniper NetScreen (ScreenOS) firewall/VPN security appliance
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll nsSetGlbMngEnable and nsSetGlbProEnable to confirm whether Global or Global-Pro management mode is active on a NetScreen device, and check nsSetGlbProPriSer/nsSetGlbProSecSer to verify the device is pointed at the correct primary and secondary management servers. Reviewing nsSetGlbMngEthStatis and nsSetGlbMngAttStatis reveals traffic statistics on the management interface, helping spot whether management connectivity to NSM is degraded.
What Can Be Monitored
- global/global-pro management enablement
- primary and secondary management server configuration
- management protocol/port settings
- Ethernet statistics on management interface
- attachment traffic statistics
