nstAgentSubagentObject
Module: NET-SNMP-TUTORIAL-MIB
OID (symbolic): NET-SNMP-TUTORIAL-MIB::nstAgentSubagentObject
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.2.4.1.1.2
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Integer32
Access: read-write
Description: This is an object that simply supports a writable integer when attached to the agent. The object should be accessible when the agentx subagent containing this object is attached. See http://www.net-snmp.org/tutorial-5/toolkit/XXX for further implementation details.
What is nstAgentSubagentObject?
This is another Net-SNMP tutorial demonstration object, but one intended to be served by an AgentX subagent rather than compiled directly into the main agent, so it only becomes readable and writable once that subagent process is attached to the master agent. An admin, again typically a developer working through the tutorial, uses this object to verify that their AgentX subagent implementation successfully attached and is correctly serving the object. For example, querying nstAgentSubagentObject and getting a 'no such object' error would tell the developer their AgentX subagent hasn't successfully attached yet, whereas a successful read of its default value 2 confirms it has.
