Description: Defines cluster event notifications and trap objects for NEC high-availability server cluster management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NEC-CLUSTER-EVENT-MIB?
NEC-CLUSTER-EVENT-MIB is an NEC-specific MIB module that defines SNMP trap/notification objects for event reporting from NEC's high-availability server cluster software. Rather than polled counters, it exposes fault/event data: event identifiers, timestamps, source server name, source module name, and a human-readable message tied to each cluster event. Its central monitoring use is capturing software-level status changes in a cluster in real time, such as failover events or resource/module errors on a clustered node, making it a fault/trap-oriented MIB rather than a performance one. It relies on SNMPv2-style notification conventions (SNMPv2-MIB / SNMP-TRAP infrastructure) to deliver the clusterEventNotifications. It is deployed in NEC enterprise server environments running clustered, high-availability application or database services where administrators need real-time alerting on cluster health changes. Engineers can download the NEC-CLUSTER-EVENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NEC-CLUSTER-EVENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- NEC clustered/high-availability server
- NEC enterprise server cluster software
Monitoring Examples
A monitoring station registers to receive clusterEventNotifications traps carrying clusterEventID, clusterEventDateTime, clusterEventServerName, and clusterEventModuleName, along with a descriptive clusterEventMessage. A trap where clusterEventModuleName indicates the failover manager and clusterEventMessage describes a resource group failing over would alert the admin that a cluster node has gone down and services shifted to a peer node. Because this MIB is trap-centric, the useful data arrives asynchronously as clusterEvent notifications rather than through periodic polling.
What Can Be Monitored
- cluster event ID
- cluster event timestamp
- source server name
- affected cluster module name
- event message text
- failover/cluster notification events
