nbsTrapIfTrapsCaps

Module: NBS-TRAPCONTROL-MIB

OID (symbolic): NBS-TRAPCONTROL-MIB::nbsTrapIfTrapsCaps

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.629.209.2.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-only

Description: Bitmask indicating which SNMP Notifications are supported for this interface.

Bit 0 is reserved.

Subsequent bits refer to the nbsTrapListTable. Bit 1 corresponds to the first table entry, Bit 2 to the second entry, and so on.

A bit is set (1) if that SNMP Notification can be sent for this interface, and cleared (0) if unavailable.

OCTET STRING bitmasks count the leftmost bit (MSB) as 0.

What is nbsTrapIfTrapsCaps?

This is a read-only bitmask indicating which SNMP notifications, listed in nbsTrapListTable, are capable of being sent for this particular interface; bit 0 is reserved, and subsequent bits correspond in order to table entries, counting the MSB as bit 0. Admins consult this to know which traps are even possible on a given interface before trying to enable them via nbsTrapIfTrapsSelect, since not every trap type applies to every interface. For example, an admin might find that a virtual interface's capability bitmask has the bit for linkDown cleared, meaning that trap simply isn't supported there regardless of configuration.
