nbsOsaChannelBand

Module: NBS-OSA-MIB

OID (symbolic): NBS-OSA-MIB::nbsOsaChannelBand

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.629.207.3.2.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: The ITU grid labels DWDM channels with a letter 'band' and a numeric channel. Within this mib, the band is indicated by this object, and the channel number is shown in the object nbsOsaChannelNumber.

Frequencies of at least 180100 GHz but less than 190100 GHz are considered the L spectrum, and frequencies of at least 190100 but less than 200100 GHz are considered the C spectrum.

Frequencies evenly divisible by 100 GHz are designated with a 'C' or 'L' prepended to the channel number. Frequencies that are offset by 50 GHz are designated 'H' within the C spectrum, and 'Q' within the L spectrum.

What is nbsOsaChannelBand?

This read-only enumerated object reports which ITU DWDM spectral band, cBand(1), hBand(2), lBand(3), or qBand(4), a detected channel falls into, based on whether its frequency is in the C or L spectrum and whether it's offset by the standard 100 GHz grid or by a 50 GHz half-step. Admins use this alongside the channel number to fully identify a wavelength per ITU grid conventions. For example, a channel reported as hBand with number 34 corresponds to the ITU grid label H34, a 50 GHz-offset channel within the C spectrum.
